I Would Describe Myself As

I spend my days, and typically my nights designing and building circuits who do stuff. That’s a simple statement of course. To expand on the underlined portion it is like this, I design things around currently preprogrammed PAL devices, (PAL=Programmed Array Logic), and programmed microcontrollers.



The family I use is the now discontinued COP411 series. They were originally made by National Semiconductor for the control of simple appliances. But the patterns behind the batch I have make them ideal for what I am now doing. The PAL chips are all “pulls”, this means they were removed from discarded memory expansion boards originally targeted to the original IBM PC family.



I am working towards a means of controlling the functions and displaying the functions via a network connection. To that end I have since bought a site player module, made by the firm NetMedia from a local electronics and computers store in the Village area of New York City.



It was being sold with out its carrier board and even basic documentation, and PC based software. That portion is available online luckily so I can continue with that portion of the work. However connecting the board is now the paramount problem.



Once these problems are resolved, I hope to replace the COP411 part with the controller behind the siteplayer, however that resolution seems to be further away then usual.



However I believe I can convince this preprogrammed controller to take advice from the siteplayer host.
